Transgender Day of Visibility

Today, March 31st, 2026, we are celebrating International Trans Day of Visibility

On this day we celebrate the Two Spirit, trans, and gender diverse communities in the north and all over the world!

Some of the supports Northern Mosaic Network offers for Two Spirit, trans, and gender diverse people in the NWT:

The Trans+ Support Fund:

Gender-affirming health care is essential and life saving health care for some Two Spirit, trans and gender diverse people. However, many aspects of this care are not covered by the NWT Health Care Plan and paying out-of-pocket for care can be prohibitively expensive. The Trans+ Support Fund provides grants directly to NWT residents to help cover the out-of-pocket costs of gender-affirming procedures.

The Community Closet:

NMN’s Community Closest provides free access to binders, packers and other trans-masculine gender-affirming products; and bras, breast forms, tucking underwear and other trans-feminine gender-affirming products. Community members can visit the closet in-person at the Rainbow Center in Yellowknife, or we can mail items to any NWT community.

We also want to highlight a few actions that allies can take in recognition of Trans Day of Visibility:

1. Donate to an organization that supports Two-Spirit, trans, and gender diverse people in the NWT.

2. Learn more about issues that impact Two Spirit, trans and gender diverse people.

3. Support and celebrate the work of Two Spirit, trans, and gender diverse trans authors, performers, artists and creators.
