Context
Northern Mosaic Network is seeking a motivated, creative, and organized full-time Indigenous Cultural Program Coordinator. The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating NMN’s on the land and Indigenous cultural events and programs for the NWT, coordinating programs long-distance with regional partners, and leading assigned projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning on-the-land and cultural events and programs, collaborating with programming partners across the NWT, coordinating volunteers, purchasing supplies and program facilitation.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate can be located in any community in the NWT provided you have access to reliable internet. This position is full-time, meaning an average of 37.5 hours per week. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process as NMN staff have flexible schedules.
If located in Yellowknife or surrounding communities, you can expect to report to the NMN Main Office located at 5112 52nd Street (flexibility to work part-time from home is an option after the first three months). If not located in Yellowknife or surrounding communities to be able to commute to the NMN Main Office, you can expect to work from home with a provided laptop, work phone and printer and regular check-ins during the first three months while you are onboarded.
Compensation: $40.00/hour + Benefits + Northern Bonus

Duties & Responsibilities
Planning On the Land & Cultural Programs and Events: Creating programs and events aimed at establishing safer spaces for 2SLGBTQIPA+ Indigenous people to connect with the land and local culture. Organizing and delivering programs and events outside of your home region will require collaboration with programming partners and occasionally, travel.
Social Media Management: Creating online content for the organization’s social media accounts as needed (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & TikTok)
Volunteer Management: Oversee the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers that help to run associated programming and events
Budgeting and Grant Writing: Manage a small program and events budget and apply for additional funding to support different projects
Program and Event Facilitation: Facilitate programs and events when there are no volunteers to cover and/or are the designated facilitator for a specific project
Collaborate with Programming Partners: Create guides on how to facilitate different programs in communities across the NWT, and work with trusted partners to deliver those programs. Opportunities for travel to other regions may also be possible depending on the event or program.
Advocacy: Connect with program and service users to identify areas of advocacy that should be brought to the organization’s attention and contribute to advocacy efforts
Qualifications & Experience

Organizational Qualifications & Experience
Experience attending or facilitating Indigenous cultural programs
Experience in working for a non-profit organization
Experience working with vulnerable populations, including youth - amount of experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
Experience working in youth-centred spaces or organizations
Experience with frontline service delivery
Knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous communities
Historical context of land and Indigenous groups in the NWT
Capable of working collaboratively with a team, as well as independently
Grant writing experience considered an asset
Knowledge of technology such as G Suite, Zoom, Canva, Discord and social media
Criminal Record Check with clear Vulnerable Sector Screening required
Position-Specific Qualifications & Experience
Workshop facilitation - amount of experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
Project management - minimum 1 year of experience
Supervisory experience considered an asset
Valid Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract
Strong interpersonal skills, able to make phone calls and craft emails
